Nice to meet you!

Hi Hi! My name is Sharon and I am the creator and designer behind Poppy & Petal, based out of Windsor, VA. My husband and I share our best days with a fun, wild two year old little boy who steals the show every single day. We just moved to Windsor, living on 9 acres of land and actively building a venue on the back portion of the property! I work full time as an Operations Coordinator to a local hospital and work with my brides in every other sparing moment that I do not share with our son. 

As for the flowers. How the heck did I even get to this point?

I think this business is the only good thing to come from my postpartum days. As a new mom, I completely lost myself and poured everything into my son, which any mother would. But it consumed me. I felt rage, guilt, exhausted and depressed and there was no coming out of that. My husband was the one guiding me into something, anything that could bring me out of a mom funk and give some relief and life back to (me)..And thus my love for flowers was born.

I found something that I could take my time with, be creative and just focus on me. I started with good ole’ Harris teeter flowers, putting our son to sleep & just creating in the evenings, learning as I go. I was watching other florists, & taking tips from them. I was creating my own style, figuring out what I loved & what I didn’t.

I took what I knew & started hosting small gatherings of people, teaching them the basics of floral arranging, proper flower care.. & saw how much people learned and loved through the flowers.

I figured that this was fun, & I would just charge a small fee to teach those classes and make that a small business. Little did I know that just over a year later I would create florals for my FIRST WEDDING!

And that first wedding has led me here to you, steadily growing what I never thought or even dreamed possible.
